About the Garden
What is Spiritual Direction and Why Would You Consider it?
Spiritual Direction is where the director meets with the directee for about an hour every 3-4 weeks for soul companionship; a non-judgemental space of compassion and acceptance where we can listen to ourselves and God, and become aware of Sacred presence in daily life. Spiritual Direction meets you where you are.
Those seeking spiritual direction come for reasons that encompass the human experience: questions, doubts, fears, trauma. Some come with a desire for guidance through life transitions, discernment, a deeper prayer life, a wondering and longing for more. Curiosity, creativity and imagination have a place here.
The Modality of The Garden
The Garden’s mode of spiritual direction is founded on four principles or Pillars, rooted in ancient traditions. They act as guideposts, showing the way to cultivate seeing, knowing, and embodying love for God, self and others.
Get to know Me!
My desire to walk with others in spiritual direction began toward the end of my career in dental hygiene. The stories shared from patients in that space revealed some of humanity's deepest needs: safety, connection, and belonging; to be seen and heard, loved and known as we are. The Transcendent present and palpable in a dental office!
I companion those from all faith backgrounds and no faith background. My offerings are rooted in the Christian Tradition, are trauma informed and woven together with threads of Ignatian Spirituality, contemplative practices, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Integration Healing, and embodiment practices. Grounded in the belief that we are made for wholeness, I acknowledge the mind, body, soul and spirit connection. I listen with discernment as we discover together what may not be obvious.
